I interviewed for the Head of Data and Insight role and unfortunately came away disappointed with the overall process.
The competency questions were fairly average and didn’t go particularly deep for a senior leadership role. Given the level of the position, I expected more rigorous discussion around strategic impact, stakeholder management, and measurable outcomes.
What caught me off guard was a surprise technical pop quiz mid-interview. While I’m fully supportive of technical assessment for data leadership roles, it felt unstructured and disconnected from the earlier conversation. There was no context provided, and it didn’t reflect the strategic scope expected at Head of level.
The most frustrating part, however, was the lack of follow-up. I was completely ghosted. No feedback, no update, and no closure. For a senior-level position, that level of communication falls short of professional standards.
Overall, the process lacked structure, alignment, and professional courtesy.
Senior candidates invest significant time preparing for interviews, and basic communication should be a given.
