      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Program (Portland, OR) in Mar 2025

      Interview

At first, I was quite excited. The Program seemed like an innovative team and a fun place to work. During my first virtual interview, it seemed like things were going well; however, after I thought about how the interview went, I started to see red flags. The interviewer was not prepared. They didn't ask me any questions about the role, didn't give me any information about it either, and they asked me what role I was applying for towards the end of the interview...like shouldn't you know? I thought it was odd, but I brushed it off. I get a second interview, in-person this time. The communication via email before the actual interview was another red flag. I sent my availability and received a Google Meet at a time outside of my availability. No context of what it was for. Hours later, I receive an email asking to come in at a certain time. I agree to this time however the Google Invite said differently. Long story short, it was confusing and I felt like the person was not reading the emails. I stated 3 TIMES what time I was coming in but as I anticipated they were expecting me at a different time. This may seem minor, but it was obvious the emails I sent weren't being read thoroughly. Day of interview, I come in and three people with their laptops bring me into a conference room. The one just got a puppy so he joined as well. I love dogs however you should ask if it’s okay. The person could be allergic or even scared of dogs. If I was talking to one person, the other two would work on their computers. I find this to be highly unprofessional. I couldn’t get your undivided attention for 30 minutes? You HAD to bring your computers and phones? What if I did that? I felt the conversation was rushed and two-dimensional. Lastly, the interview was cut short because the dog had to go out. I felt like my time was disrespected and the whole process was unprofessional. My advice: Remember that interviews are a two-way road. Put the computers and phones away. Also, don’t call the interviewer by the wrong name. Good luck.
