      I interviewed at The Team

      Interview

I had a strange in-person interview at their dreadfully rundown and uninspiring office. It was meant to last about an hour and was presented to me as a chemistry check and initial team meeting. Instead, it lasted for two and a half hours. It was a deeply uncomfortable experience where I felt like every word on my CV was scrutinised and picked apart, almost as if they were trying to catch me in a lie. The company feels very old-school and male-dominated. Most of their work seems to revolve around graphic design, but the founders seem to believe they are a top management consultancy (ha!). The atmosphere felt quite preachy and moralising regarding certain industries. One founder seemed okay, but the other couldn’t stop sneering at some of my past work experiences. The role kept evolving throughout the interview, and by the end, it did not align with the original job description shared with me. What started as a tall order just kept getting taller. The attitude was very much along the lines of, "How are you planning to build OUR business and make US richer? By the way, have we mentioned that you will be performing the roles of three separate and senior people in this role?" After a two-and-a-half-hour conversation—an entire afternoon of my time if you factor in the travel—I received absolutely zero feedback and was ghosted.

This simply did not happen. It is true that we have been recently interviewing for positions, but no interview has followed the process outlined. We have contacted the unsuccessful candidates again, and will contact the respective recruitment agencies to make clear that we are always open to give further feedback. Unsuccessful candidates are always contacted and feedback always given so that they understand why we have taken the decisions that we have. Unfortunately, with sites like Glassdoor there is no process whereby we can now remove this review and no process that Glassdoor follows to check the validity of the review. We would be happy for someone from Glassdoor to contact us to discuss this.
