I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Thorlabs (Sterling, VA) in Jun 2012
Interview
I applied online for this position. The Software Director of the Imaging Division of ThorLabs contacted me via email and asked me some questions about my visa status, programming knowledge and told about the work they do. After that he scheduled a phone interview in which he asked some OO concepts, technical questions about Java, testing etc. After that he scheduled an onsite interview and asked me to prepare a presentation about my work experience and projects. On the day of the interview I was asked to present before a team of engineers and managers. I was also interviewed by the manager and then given a tour of the facility. The company had a start up like feel to it since this division is newly established. There were not a lot of people present that day. It was less of an office and more of a factory manufacturing imaging systems like microscope etc. The Product Manager was not well behaved as he started arguing with me in the middle of my presentation.
