I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at TikTok in Jan 2020
Interview
Invitation to an event highlighting the company vision, roles, and was able to speak to the people who you would be working with/for. The next day was a set of interviews with people you'd be working for. The initial vibe was very positive, very encouraging and feedback/response from interviews was promised the next week (in writing and in person).
Complete radio silence. No indication of next steps or any feedback that was promised, just dropped off the face of the earth. Super disappointing and misleading, belies what working there would be like.
I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2026
Interview
I had an initial screening, meeting with hiring manager and then had to do a case study presentation in front of panel interviewers follow by a Q&A session where they grilled me with questions

Question 1
What was the biggest challenge you faced at your job in the last year ?
HR screener interview. The interviewer was friendly and posed the standard screening interview questions such as, tell me about yourself, run me through your resume, why TikTok. They also spent a good amount of time describing the scope of the role and structure of the team at a local and regional level. Overall positive experience.
