I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at TikTok in Feb 2024
Interview
HR round was good, but the next round with a backend engineer guy is really terrible. He's not even introducing himself to me at the start, he asked a few questions about my past exp, followed by a simple system design case, then a leetcode kind of question which I managed to finish with a working solution in time. He didn't communicate at all, barely speak while I was explaining my thought process.
He didn't leave much time for me to ask questions, I only ask 2 qns and then he immediately says "if no more questions, i'll hang up the call" and immediately end the meeting. So rude.
I didn't even know his name.
I ask HR and got the rejection the next day. So bad I think I did well.

Interview
hr reach out and take one round interview, use ai to help to implement a feature , i only took one round. it's not hard but do not know what the interviewer's expectation
3x leetcode medium with some behavioral mixed in. Hiring manager round asked a bunch of behavioral stuff and gave 15min at the end to do leetcode mediu. All leetcode asked were on the harder side of medium.
The interview process consisted of an initial HR screening followed by a technical interview with the engineering team. The technical round focused on backend fundamentals, including data structures, system design basics, and problem-solving questions. There was also discussion about past projects and experience. The interviewer was very nice, professional, and made the conversation comfortable and engaging. Overall, the process was smooth and well-structured.
