I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tonal
Interview
Was approached by their own internal recruiter. From my linkedIn profile, they thought that I was an ideal fit for two reasons :
1) Did my PhD work in skeletal muscle physiology
2) Have strong AI experience, having built and shipped models that are FDA cleared.
After an initial phone screen, my application was returned with the following feedback : "Too academic"
Okay bruh, Good luck with that!

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Tonal in Jan 2019
Interview
Be ware of the data science job postings from this company. They take advantage of the interview process to get free consultation on their algorithm improvement.
It was initial phone call, take home assignment, and another video call.
The interviewer expressed his interest over and over, and was "impressed" by my solution to the challenge, but 15 mins after the second video call, emailed to tell me that he is not moving forward!
I am glad that I am not going to work for such a toxic company.
