      Software Engineer Interview

      Dec 3, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Trellist (New York, NY)

      Interview

The interview process was exciting until it turned aggressive and hostile. Glassdoor reviews talking about favorites is 100 percent accurate. The other members on the team seemed tired, defeated, and sad. The product manager, also the son of the CEO, clearly tries to run the place. Knows very little about tech yet he was trying to prove he was smarter than me to the rest of the team. Personal attacks and insults galore, I almost left mid interview. Even the CEO cringed at some of the questions. In the interview they were clearly typing to each other in the background, so unprofessional. Apparently this is business as usual because I was offered the position. Once they offer you the position they'll harass you until you give them an answer. Calling and texting multiple times a day. Once you tell them no, they ghost and don't even reply lol. Clearly not accepting was the right move. Unhealthy workplace, stay away!

While our interview process is different from conventional interviews, it is designed to challenge candidates for skills, performance, character, and help reveal if they will flourish in our openly collaborative, entrepreneurial, and self-reflective organization. This is particularly critical when looking at senior level roles, as there needs to be an increased level of criteria and personality fit validation. A preliminary job offer may be received, although final job offers are contingent on concluding the process in a productive manner. If anything in an interview comes off as personal, we apologize; it’s not meant to be. Our process is there to help all involved reach a successful path forward, whether that is with Trellist or not. Our organization is a great fit for some but not others and that’s okay. We owe it to our tenured professionals to hire the right people, and we owe it to all candidates to ensure they are making the best choice for their career. We encourage you to follow up with your recruiter so you can express your concerns allowing us to better understand the issues and improve.
