I found an ad in the paper for "appointment setter for travel agency" and it was $12 an hour. So I called and they set an interview me. This was back when they were known an InnSeason resorts. So I went in an found all of these people on little handheld phone and then realized what it was: telemarketing. The head took me to a huge classroom and had me fill out the application. I also gave him a copy of my resume. After I filled it out, he looked it over.
He then gave me a paper that said the job was $7.25 on hour and said that I would be making calls to people who signed up for a free gift. When I inquired about the $12 an hour, he only said that was for a few weeks, and I had to be making my quota every week.
So I said, "So I will be let go after a certain time?". He was like "Yeah, We can't hold onto you if you aren't performing". I then replied, "So it isn't telemarking?". He replied, "It is telemarketing. That's exactly what it is". So I gave him back the handout, and asked for my resume back. They have been at this for years and now known at TripJoy Advantage. Steer clear.
