There was no interview because the person who was supposed to interview me reschedule at the last minute THREE times. And their assistant sent automated, impersonal messages notifying me along with a note that I could not respond to these messages. Reflected very poorly on the company.

Interview
I had applied for the position on Indeed in November but did not hear back until March. I had a phone interview/discovery call with the Employee Experience Director (essentially the HR head) that was very relaxed and left me with a positive impression of Turbine Labs. I got invited in to come in probably about a week and a half later to meet with her in person, as well as our Production Manager and a Senior Data Journalist. The interview lasted about 45 minutes and I could tell they genuinely wanted to see if I was a good fit for the team, not just check off a few boxes. For me, it wasn't a typical Q & A interview, which I really enjoyed. I will say I was still unclear of the exact responsibilities of the role, but now being in the role I see that it's harder to articulate and easier to show. I think that's why having someone in the role in the interview process was definitely helpful. They were really transparent about the start-up atmosphere and what some people have trouble with, which was refreshing.
