    Interview

The federal hiring process can be lengthy. The actual interview was quick and basic. Hiring was quick after the interview, at least for a federal position. The interview was a panel interview done over the phone

    Interview

My resume was sent to the Director by former colleagues. A few months later, I got a call for an interview. I first had an interview with the "right hand man" of the Director and then an interview with the Director and Assistant Director.

    Interview Questions

    • The interview was focused on both my technical skills and my "soft skills." They wanted to find out how well I work with others, how flexible I was, etc. They asked about my employment during HS (even though I was more than a decade out of HS).   Answer Question

    Interview

Recieved a phone call. Called them back. We set up an appointment for an over the phone interview, which is typical due to many applicants coming from all over the US. Many technicians I have spoken to are young and enjoy traveling from Tech job to tech job across the US.

    Interview Questions

    • The standard moral questions: What would you do if...? Would you report this if you saw it? What would be the steps you would take to resolve a misunderstanding...etc.   Answer Question

    Interview

Very easy going and easy to talk to. Questions are easy just make sure you answer truthfully and make sure you sound confident . Got offered the job. The process is a little lengthy because it’s a government job. Don’t get discouraged.

    Interview

Put in for several positions in various states. Interviewed for at least 10 positions. Was not informed of being hired or not for most of them. The position in MI was nice enough to call me and let me know that they did not hire me. Several months have gone by on most of these positions. It can take as long as 6 months before you find out one way or another. Sometimes the positions do not bother to let you know.... if you do not hear back from them then you know that they did not hire you. Several months after applying I was offered a position in Idaho. Later I received a phone call from HR stating that they were sorry about the mistake and that I was qualified after all and congratulations on my new position. Some how I was offered a job then rated non qualified, then the mistake was caught and everything is fine. However I have not received any paperwork showing that I have the position. It has been several months but it might have to do with the current Government shutdown. As far as I know everything is fine and I will receive concrete evidence of being hired once the Government shutdown is over.

    Interview Questions

    • Lots of questions.... some people asked where I saw myself in 5 years. Most asked How do I feel about cleaning toilets? Can I work with minimum supervision? Have I had to deal with conflicts with employees or public and if so how did I deal with it.   1 Answer
