I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Uncle Dan's (Highland Park, IL) in Sep 2016
Interview
Applied online and was called in next day for interview. Interviewer/sr.manager seemed really great. Said she liked me and wanted me to come back next morning to meet owner. I was leaving for out of town next day but went - probably should have scheduled for my return as I was already overbooked for that day and stressed but I really wanted/needed the job and believe I would have been a fantastic asset to their team. I guess they didn't believe so because the interview went cold after owner 'subtly' asked my age- and I didnt tell him. Sent my ty note from out of state and got a curt reply they filled the position but will keep me in mind for other roles. The next week, they were already posting new help wanted ads again.
Their loss, not mine. I will never step foot in or recommend that store to anyone again. Feel they just wasted a week of my time.
Probably a good thing as I'm really not into cleaning toilets, or the store - small print at bottom of job description. Are they so cheap they can't hire a cleaning service?
I wonder if employers know how much time and effort goes into preparing for an interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What's your favorite place to go? (I probably could have told them everything they ever could have known about their products, and their competitors' - style, fit, fabric, care, suitability for climates and activity, etc) but they didn't ask that)
