This was a particularly bad process. I don't usually write these types of reviews but I had to. Like many others on here this came across as free work that ended up with no offer.
Initially, I was approached by a recruiter and had a short conversation. She said they'd send along a task for me to 'assess'. Given that I have worked in the field for some time and have extensive education I was surprised how messy this video task was. Either way, I thought the content interesting and performed my task (to create a report with recommendations RED FLAG). However, they said it would take 45 mins but if you've ever done this type of work you know that is false.
After submitting my report a few days go by and I see that they have re-posted the job. I email the recruiter to find out what is going and was informed that they passed on me and 'went in a different direction.' Now, some people on here made it to a second interview and I did not but I want to be clear that I hold a masters in HCI and have worked in this field for over 4 years. I was given no feedback on why I was passed and as such the entire process came across as a ploy to get free work from talented people.
This process seemed like a waste of time with a company that has no idea what they are doing with UX. I am not surprised to read what I have and am thankful I did not get another interview.
