      Junior Java Engineer Interview

      Jul 30, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Wrocław
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Vention (Wrocław) in Jul 2024

      Interview

Very fast contact from HR. Good contact and fast responses. I even got a final call with a feedback. Those are the only good things I can say about the recruitment. Besides that it was the worst recruitment process I have ever taken part in. For almost every question I asked about the project (during initial call with HR or the next one) I always got the answer "it depends on customer". Despite applying for a Junior position, the questions I was asked didn't seemed to be Junior at all. In fact, an other company, where I have applied as Mid had easier questions. There were about 40minutes of technical questions. Where one person was just asking questions and waiting for the expected answer. But I couldn't really tell if it's the correct answer or not, as there were no confirmations. Instead he would often dwell on a subject even despite me saying "I don't know". Even if I told the correct answer, I was asked again to make sure I don't change my mind. Of course, in the end you get a tricky question where you have to be a compiler and tell what the output is going to be. Other 40min were soft questions. "What would you do if...". Often sticking to one topic and asking several closely related questions to it. It is worth mentioning, that all of the meetings took place at least at 4p.m. I even got answers for my e-mail after 6p.m. or even 10p.m. After the soft/technical meeting next were supposed to be meeting(s) with a client. Again, they couldn't tell how many because "it depends". Ps. Whole process is in English and it's hybrid way of working.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear you appreciated the quick communication and the final call with feedback. Also, we’re sorry to learn that parts of the interview process felt challenging and not aligned with your expectations for a Junior role. Since our projects are client-driven, some responses naturally depend on specific customer needs, but we realize clearer context can make a big difference. Your experience highlights areas where we can improve. We appreciate your honesty and will reflect on your comments. We wish you every success in your job search and appreciate your contribution to improving our process.
