Verily is still trying to figure out what it wants to be when it grows up, and the immaturity is reflected in the interview process and questions. Ambiguity is one thing, but a complete juvenile and unsophisticated approach is another …..
Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend Verily for a seasoned professional, especially one with clinical trial experience.
The impression I got was incredibly tone deaf and sadly, still reflexive of tired Silicon Valley stereotypes. I am still earnest in my belief that the heavy hitters of senior management are solid, but there’s a WIDE gulf between them and middle management.
The rudimentary, sophomoric interview questions reflected a lack of comprehension of the biopharma ecosystem at best - and inflexibility and lack of diversity training, at worst.
Best analogy I can think of is asking basic questions of a cook, but expecting to hire a chef.
Probably a great place to follow a recipe and cut some cookies.
