      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at WI-HER in Apr 2023

      Interview

I had 2 interviews with WI-HER. The first was with HR to gauge my general fit, skills, interest, etc. in the job. The second was a technical assessment interview with the person I would be reporting to. I thought all the employees I met with were personable and professional until I was ghosted by the entire hiring team. After my second interview, I sent a thank you email and was told that I would hear back soon. Radio silence. I sent a follow up email 3 weeks later and to this day still have not heard back from anyone on the team.

      Interview

A confusing, 4-month process consisting of 4 interviews, a technical assessment, shifting points of contact, and unclear expectations, WI-HER's interview conduct was unprofessional, convoluted, and egregiously inefficient. Throughout the recruitment experience, I was misled with timelines and expectations shifting from week to week. On two separate occasions, I was given less than 24-hours notice prior to an interview. It was obvious that interviewers did not share notes as I answered the same questions (i.e. salary expectations, qualifications, interest in WI-HER) repeatedly. After making it to the final round, I was ghosted for 16-days before receiving a rejection. The rejection was prompted by my 3rd follow up email. My references were contacted prior to an offer meaning that WI-HER not only wasted my time, but that of my network. How an organization treats prospective employees is a direct reflection of company values. Given my experience, it's obvious that WI-HER needs to improve their commitment to designing transparent and respectful processes that treat candidates with dignity. I wouldn't recommend pursuing employment with WI-HER, but if you do decide to go through with the recruitment experience you can expect the following red flags: 1. Reference outreach prior to offer. References are often busy, executive level individuals. Reaching out with no intention of extending an offer is rude. 2. Shifting timelines with last minute communication. 3. Long-periods of silence (ghosting). The recruitment team communicated their own decision deadlines and missed every single one of them. 4. Shifting Recruitment point of contact. I reached out to the primary recruiter only to discover that he was no longer working on the account and had been traveling outside Wifi service. 5. No benefits summary or salary range. Summary of Interview Stages: - Informal Informational Interview - 30-minute Conversation w/ Recruiter - 60+ minute Interview w/ direct Supervisor - Technical Assessment (2-days to complete) - 45-minute Interview w/ Program Manager - References Contacted via email - 45-minute Interview w/ COO
