      Interview

My interview process was long, about 2 or 3 weeks just for the phone interview part. I had a phone interview scheduled, waited, and heard nothing from the interviewer. I was late to school, yet I reached out to her to ask if we were still scheduled for today or what was going on. She had a family emergency, and said her email must not have gotten to me. Understandable, so she ended up rescheduling me for the next week. The phone interview went well, she said I was an excellent fit with the company and had said she wanted me to come in to meet the entire team and we spoke about the compensation and everything. She sent me a request for an in-person interview and we discussed times that would be best to come in to meet everyone, yet my work schedule is hectic at the moment and I didn’t have much flexibility to come in. I spoke with my supervisor at my current job and he switched one of my days around just so I could go in for an interview, as he was extremely proud of me and thought this was an excellent opportunity for me. Reached out the the interviewer via email, didn’t hear back for days. Sent her a second email, and today I get an email saying I’m no longer in consideration. I would’ve greatly appreciated hearing this weeks ago, as I feel like I wasted my time and also got my hopes up since the way she had spoken to me made me feel pretty confident I would land the position. What a disappointing process.

Thank you for your feedback on our intern interview process. We make every effort to be flexible when it comes to the interview process for intern positions knowing that students generally have a full course load of classes and often commitments with other jobs. Sometimes our hiring schedule does not always align with every potential candidate’s schedule. We hire interns for several different departments throughout the year and receive generally 50-75 applicants per position. Throughout this process, every effort is made to identify the most qualified applicants and funnel them through our interview process. We also attempt to identify the best candidates as quickly as possible so we can offer the internship and they can start to contribute to the team. Also, as a best practice and part of our process, in-person interviews are conducted before any indication is given that a job offer may be presented or before a formal job offer is made. Again, we appreciate the insight into your experience and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
