Interview was professional, and they were clear about the position and what they need the person in this position to accomplish. Two days afterwards, they made an offer and I accepted. I also gave notice to my director regarding my intention to leave the position I had at that time, and began the customary preparations for changing jobs. One week after I accepted the job, the HR staff member who had called the previous week with the offer I had accepted, left me a voicemail stating that they "are going to go another way". No explaination. Just a very curt and hurried voicemail message. I was then unable to reach her by phone for five days. I had called to ask if I had a problem with a reference, or something else that I was not aware of. She said that there wasn't anything about me that changed their plans, and that it had to do with internal issues at the company.
So, I was left without a position, because once you've resigned you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.
This is the first I've even heard of any company treating anybody like this. Their insensitivity is absolutely worldclass. I am afraid for anyone who happens to become a patient at any one of their facilities.
