This was the worst hiring experience I've ever had. The entire process was incredibly prolonged, marked by terrible communication and disorganization. I was ultimately turned down for a Project Manager role after weeks of interviews and extended radio silence.
However, immediately after that rejection, I was actively "sold" on a "lesser" Estimator role I didn't even apply for. The subsequent meeting, framed as a "conversation," was chaotic: one interviewer promoted a creative, expansive version of the role, while another tried to temper those expectations and fit me into a rigid, uncreative one, even admitting they felt bad for wasting my time. I was promised they'd seek the "best offer" from HR, but what followed was three weeks of complete silence and two follow-ups from my end, leading to a generic dismissal. At no point was it communicated that they were meeting with other candidates, leading me to believe I was the sole consideration. Their admission in the final email ("we were waiting to finalize with the other person") cemented their utter lack of transparency.
This almost 3-month ordeal felt like a complete waste of my time. Management urgently needs to improve communication, internal alignment, and overall respect for candidates. Do not string people along or waste their time with such disorganized and misleading processes.
