Was first a screening call followed by a tech interview with an architect and a team lead. The architect talked a lot, we had a nice discussion, I had an opportunity to ask questions. And the team lead was silent most of the time and at some point decided that the time had come and dumped a long exception on me from some of their internal test, saying, come on, look for a problem.
It was a problem with parsing a JSON document, one field was either missing or had the wrong type. I was trying to say that I would have more intuition about the exact reason if they showed the issuing source code, but this was ignored. So yeah, this is a bad practice. Not the worst, but still deserving to be included in my top 5 antipatterns of engineering interviews.
