It has taken me months to process the level of unprofessionalism at Zip HQ. I began the process for an Account Executive role in December. After passing the initial screens and meeting the hiring manager twice, I was introduced to his boss, who was remarkably off-putting and bragged about being "politically incorrect" during our interview.
Despite that red flag, the hiring manager explicitly told me I was ahead of 40 other candidates and had nothing to worry about. After my final presentation, I was told I was getting the offer, but they needed my references first. I provided them, and my former managers even texted me to say the hiring manager told them I was getting the job.
After being strung along for two weeks with excuses about "Q4 approvals," I received a text on Monday asking to talk. On the subsequent phone call, they told me they gave the job to someone else who was "further along." This is a complete lack of integrity. They will leverage your professional network and reputation to hedge their bets. Do not provide references to this company until you have an offer in writing.

Interview
I recently interviewed with Zip, going through both a telephonic round and a hiring manager round. After my interview with hiring manager, I received really positive feedback and was told to expect an email for next round by Monday. When I didn’t hear anything, I followed up on Tuesday, only to learn that the position had already been filled by someone in later-stage interviews.
It was honestly disappointing and felt unfair that candidates who had completed their rounds weren’t given proper consideration. The lack of communication and transparency made the experience feel unprofessional.

Question 1
Why Zip? How is Zip leveraging AI? What do you understand in procurement?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Zip HQ (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2025
Interview
The interview process is managed entirely through email with no human interaction from the recruiting coordination team. Communication is impersonal and provides no feedback at any stage.
Once a Zoom call is finally scheduled with the hiring manager, the questions are read directly from what appeared to be an Excel spreadsheet, showing little adaptability or genuine engagement. If you pass this step, you are assigned a “Strategic Account Penetration Planning” case study. This requires a significant time investment to prepare a 45-minute presentation covering account discovery, territory strategy, and a meeting agenda with key objectives.
Despite receiving extremely positive feedback on my presentation, I was ghosted for over a week. Eventually, I was informed by email that I was not moving forward — again, with no feedback. When I asked, the recruiter told me that providing feedback “is the norm” at this company.
Overall, the process is unprofessional, overly time-consuming, and dismissive of candidates’ efforts.
