      Board Member Interview

      Jan 23, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Columbia, SC
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at boardsi (Columbia, SC) in Jan 2026

      Interview

Got a mail that asks if I want an interview for a board member. I said yes and took an interview as I had two experiences of registered corporate board member. But the interview was solely to induce people to pay for the service whcih, as they say, would direct us for those companies which would need board members.... Why would I pay for that??

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

If I would like to subscribe for their paid service.

      Interview

I was contacted through LinkedIn with the following message- "Your background matches some of our paid board and advisory positions that we have been retained to do a search for and present candidates to. We would love to have a discussion. Please schedule a call at your earliest convenience." After looking at their website and reading on Glassdoor I was prepared for the interview. They asked if I was actively looking for a board position, and I responded yes, I am actively looking for a board role, but I'm not looking for a subscription service. The interviewer proceeded to say thank you for your time and then hung up.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at boardsi in Apr 2024

      Interview

Someone called me trying to recruit me to be a part of their board "pool" that would match with the companies that need my area of expertise. I asked if I was executive enough for the role, knowing quite well the requirements since my husband is the CEO of a start-up, and the answer was "yes". When the interviewer mentioned paying the subscription for that (195 per month) plus a one-time setting fee of 200 dollars, my response was "Don't you think that you should show some matching for the role first? that there is an actual demand for my area of expertise? It sounds fair, isn't it?". The response was that he understood and that maybe he could send me the information through email so I could think about it. Funny. Wait a minute, I thought about it and my answer remains the same. ;-)

      Question 1

Do you want to pay the subscription fee? Would you like to think about it?
