The job description didn't confirm a salary, so during the initial phone call, I was asked what my starting salary would be. They then confirmed the role salary is £5k-£10k less than I had stated - too low for me to reasonably live on - so the 8 minute phone call in the middle of my working day was essentially pointless, but I felt it would be rude of me to ask about salary in the initial few minutes of the call.
