      Interview

Straightforward process. First step was screening with internal recruiter and I got a phone call that afternoon to set up some time and chat with the team that I was being placed into Casual with the team before receiving an offer.

      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at me&u

      Interview

I came across Mr Yum QR code in a Sydney restaurant and totally adored the app because of its ease of use and decided to work for the company. Being a trained engineer when I saw the customer onboarding role where you integrate Mr Yum systems, I thought this could be a great opportunity and applied. Since their backend integration for recruitment is good, as soon as I applied, all automation fired as expected and I got the emails, zoom link and everything needed for the preliminary interview. So far so good. (Or maybe it could be because of Calendly's backend being robust) Interview was scheduled at 9am and I joined just a few minutes before 9. But even after 10 minutes I don't see the interviewer! I sent an email to check if I was on a wrong zoom link. But I was on the right one and my interviewer joined the call 15 minutes later. Yes, my interviewer was late! It's okay, it can happen, we are all humans and there are like thousands of factors at play in our everyday life! So that is fine. Interview started. Started with the usuals. Tell me about yourself and such. And my lady interviewer seemed not very interested in what I had to say. At one point she even yawned. Well, I'm not the most interesting person. So that's fine, I understand that too. Or maybe she didn't get enough sleep the previous night. I wouldn't know. But apparently, the outcome was almost pre-decided, at least that was how I felt. Could it be because of race, religion, language or something like that? I don't think so. Mr Yum iterates the importance of Diversity and Inclusion Commitment every now and then and it is highly unlikely that the HR person didn't get that memo. Unlike many other cases, I didn't randomly come across this job and then applied. I sought out because I thought the company was cool and found a role that I was willing to give my everything. But I wasn't even considered for a second interview, because the recruiter wasn't having a good day? Provided the fact the customer onboarding had the longest training, anyone with a passion can be trained to excel at this role. Needless to say, I didn't clear the interview. I got the 'sorry we can't proceed with your application' email and of course without a reason or feedback. But that reminded me that I've decided a long time ago not to take up a corporate job. And thanks to that reminder I have now set up my own consultation and now I do tech integrations for small businesses! Thanks for the redirection!
