I applied for the Product Management role the company posted on LinkedIn. In the job description, it was clearly stated that the position was remote, which is why I applied—because I was looking to work from outside Istanbul.
Later, I received a call from HR asking if I lived in Istanbul. I explained that while I currently live in Istanbul, I wanted to work remotely and was planning to move to Ankara. However, the HR representative mentioned that they expect employees to come to the office once every two weeks. I said that wouldn’t be a problem, and I could manage that.
But in the end, they didn’t move forward with my application, saying that sometimes coming to the office might be required 2–3 times a week, not just biweekly.
I honestly don’t understand why they labeled the position as remote on LinkedIn if that wasn’t the case. It felt like a waste of time and gave me false hope. The detailed job description also clearly stated that it was a remote role, but the reality turned out to be quite different.
