The interview process at treetree is transparent, thorough and fun! That being said, it is a big time commitment...but don’t let that scare you away! The interview process is a representation of how treetree cares for employees like a part of their family, and they want to make sure it is right!
My initial phone screening was 30 minutes. It’s more about personality, work ethic and culture rather than anything job specific.
My second interview was in-person for one hour with what would be my supervisor, plus a tour of the treehouse! This was very job specific.
My third interview was two hours with four potential teammates. There were never more than two people interviewing me at a time, so I always felt comfortable. This interview gave me a great feel for team dynamic, which is so important in such a small place. I actually left this interview saying “that was fun!” like I had just hung out with some new friends.
My final interview was an hour and a half, including individual meetings with my direct supervisor, a person in leadership and the CEO.
After the three rounds of in-person interviews, treetree asked for spec work and (lots) of references. This surprised me at this point in the process, but makes total sense since I was doing a bit of a career and industry shift. Plus, the interviewers were never shy to call out how thorough they were being!
Ultimately, the time dedicated to the interview process over about a 45 day span was completely worth it. I started on my first day with a solid understanding of the role, a lot of familiar faces, and the confidence that my position would be a good fit!
