Mission Hill is a thriving non-denominational church in beautiful Traverse City Michigan's Peninsula neighborhood. We are seeking a Youth Pastor for our vibrant and welcoming congregation.

Job Overview

The Youth Pastor provides spiritual leadership, discipleship, and pastoral care for middle school and high school students. This role develops a Christ-centered youth ministry that helps students grow in faith, build healthy relationships, serve others, and become active participants in the life of the church. The successful candidate will lead, plan, build and grow a youth ministry that is consistent with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Mission Hill Church.

Responsibilities

· Plan, lead, and evaluate weekly youth gatherings, Bible studies, small groups, and special events.

· Grow our youth program through community involvement, development and implementation of annual personal and youth ministry plans.

· Teach biblically sound, age-appropriate lessons that encourage spiritual growth and practical application.

· Build relationships with students and families through mentoring, discipleship, encouragement, and pastoral care.

· Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers who serve in youth ministry.

· Organize retreats, camps, mission trips, outreach activities, and service opportunities.

· Partner with parents and guardians by communicating regularly about ministry goals, events, and student needs.

· Collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders to align youth ministry with the church’s mission, calendar, and values.

· Develop a safe, welcoming environment by following church policies and child protection procedures.

· Manage the youth ministry budget, calendar, supplies, and administrative needs.

· Encourage students to participate in worship, service, leadership, and the broader life of the church.

· Recruit, train and coordinate an adult team for ROOTED, mission trips, retreats and special events.

· Encourage students to invite others to activities to learn and grow spiritually.

· Communicate the needs of the youth program to lead pastor, staff and church council as needed.

· Assist with church related activities as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with biblical values.

· Strong commitment to the mission, doctrine, and leadership of the church.

· Experience in youth ministry, teaching, discipleship, or a related pastoral role.

· Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, biblical studies or a related field.

· Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and relational skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, parents, and students.

· Must be dependable, organized and able to motivate volunteers while building strong partnerships with families and church community.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and model spiritual maturity.

· Must be available days, evenings and weekends and as needed to meet the requirements of the position. This is a 40+ hour position, based on needs of the church.

· Develop network with other youth ministers in the community.

· General knowledgeable in Microsoft Word and Excel.

· Bachelor’s degree required, degree in ministry is preferred.

· Must be willing/able to pass a background check and provide work references.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
