POSITION SUMMARY
The Field Quality Control Inspector is responsible for verifying that all framing work is installed in accordance with project plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards. This role serves as the field’s primary quality resource by conducting inspections, maintaining quality documentation, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring corrective actions are completed before inspections and turnover.
The Quality Control Inspector plays a critical role in reducing rework, improving inspection success rates, and ensuring consistent execution across all projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform Field Quality Inspections
- Conduct daily quality control inspections of framing operations.
- Verify work complies with approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and company standards.
- Inspect framing, hardware, shear walls, trusses, decking, blocking, and other structural components.
- Identify deficiencies before they become inspection failures or rework.
2. Manage Quality Control Checklists
- Complete and maintain all required quality control checklists in Fieldwire.
- Update inspection status and documentation in a timely manner.
- Verify required quality checkpoints are completed prior to progressing work.
- Ensure quality records remain organized and current.
3. Document Deficiencies
- Identify and document quality deficiencies using Fieldwire.
- Provide clear descriptions, photos, and locations of deficiencies.
- Communicate deficiencies to Foremen, subcontractor crews, and field leadership.
- Track deficiencies from identification through resolution.
4. Verify Corrective Actions
- Conduct follow-up inspections to verify deficiencies have been corrected.
- Close out quality issues only after confirming compliance with plans and standards.
- Escalate unresolved or recurring issues to the RGS and Operations Manager.
5. Support Inspection Readiness
- Verify work is inspection-ready before municipal, third-party, or owner inspections.
- Assist project teams in preparing for inspections and quality reviews.
- Help improve first-pass inspection success rates.
6. Communicate Quality Expectations
- Work closely with Foremen and subcontractor crews to reinforce company quality standards.
- Communicate recurring quality trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Promote a culture of “build it right the first time.”
7. Reporting & Documentation
- Maintain accurate quality reports, photos, and inspection records.
- Provide regular quality updates to field leadership.
- Assist with project closeout documentation as required.
8. Continuous Improvement
- Identify recurring quality issues and root causes.
- Recommend process improvements to reduce rework and improve field performance.
- Assist in developing and refining quality control procedures and checklists.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Construction experience preferred, with wood framing experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Foremen, subcontractors, and project teams.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use Fieldwire or similar field management software.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
