SHR Talent is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to identify a Contract Software Engineer (Healthcare Integrations) who will play a critical role in designing, developing, and supporting healthcare data interfaces that enable seamless interoperability across systems, practices, and vendor platforms.
This position serves as both a technical expert and project liaison, collaborating with internal stakeholders, oncology practices, and external partners to deliver scalable, reliable integration solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare integration experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects from discovery through implementation and support.
This contract engagement is expected to continue through the end of 2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.
- Design, build, test, implement, and support healthcare data interfaces and integration solutions.
- Participate in project discovery sessions to gather requirements, identify risks, and uncover technical challenges.
- Develop project diagrams, workflows, and technical documentation.
- Perform functional and end-to-end testing to ensure interfaces meet project requirements prior to go-live.
- Support data extracts, migrations, and backload activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date interface documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for integration projects and existing interfaces.
- Act as the primary liaison between internal teams, oncology practices, vendors, and external partners.
- Facilitate communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment and project success.
- Coordinate multiple concurrent integration projects while maintaining timelines and deliverables.
- Manage vendor relationships and serve as the central point of contact for integration-related initiatives.
- Identify enhancement opportunities and document requirements through JIRA tickets.
- Collaborate with development teams and serve as Product Owner for Azure Function development initiatives when needed.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for existing interfaces and integration issues.
- Monitor and maintain Mirth Connect environments to ensure performance, stability, and currency.
- Proactively communicate risks, concerns, or issues impacting integration environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Healthcare IT, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
- 3+ years of experience in healthcare integrations, interface development, or healthcare IT systems.
- Hands-on experience with Mirth Connect or a comparable healthcare integration engine.
- Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting healthcare data interfaces.
- Experience with Azure Functions or similar serverless/cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools such as JIRA.
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including HL7 v2, FHIR, CCD, APIs, and related frameworks.
- Experience supporting healthcare data migrations, extracts, and backloads.
- Experience working with oncology practices, healthcare providers, or healthcare technology organizations.
- Understanding of cloud-based integration environments and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability and integration architecture.
- Ability to design scalable, reliable, and maintainable integration solutions.
- Exceptional problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communicator capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
