Position Overview

The Lead Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) is a senior technical and leadership role within KTL Solutions' growing CMMC practice. In this role, you will lead end-to-end CMMC assessments for Defense Industrial Base (DIB) clients, guide and mentor junior assessors, and serve as a subject matter expert on CMMC compliance strategy and program management.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a credentialed CMMC professional who is ready to step into leadership — shaping not only how our clients achieve compliance, but how KTL delivers assessments at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute CMMC Level 1, Level 2, and/or Level 3 assessments for DIB clients in accordance with CMMC-AB and DoD assessment guidelines
• Serve as Assessment Team Lead, coordinating assessment planning, execution, evidence review, and reporting
• Review and evaluate client System Security Plans (SSPs), Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms), and supporting documentation
• Conduct interviews, document reviews, and technical testing to validate implementation of NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC practices
• Provide expert guidance to clients on compliance gaps, remediation strategies, and security best practices
• Mentor and develop junior CCAs and assessment staff, ensuring consistency and quality across all engagements
• Collaborate with KTL leadership to refine assessment methodologies, tools, and internal processes
• Maintain accurate, thorough assessment records and deliver polished findings reports to clients and stakeholders
• Stay current on CMMC program updates, DoD policy changes, NIST guidance, and emerging cybersecurity standards
• Support business development efforts by participating in client discovery calls, proposal development, and capability briefings
• Represent KTL Solutions with professionalism and expertise in client-facing and industry settings

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Certified CMMC Assessor (CCA) credential issued by Cyber AB — required
• 3+ years of experience conducting cybersecurity assessments, audits, or compliance evaluations
• Deep working knowledge of NIST SP 800-171, CMMC 2.0 framework, and related DoD cybersecurity policy
• Experience leading or managing assessment teams or complex compliance engagements
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate technical controls across diverse IT environments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to translate technical findings for both technical and executive audiences
• Experience working with or within the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) strongly preferred
• Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., GovCloud, Microsoft 365 GCC/GCC High) and their CMMC implications
• Relevant additional certifications are a plus: CISSP, CISM, Security+, CISA, or similar
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required
• Self-directed, organized, and comfortable managing multiple client engagements simultaneously

Pay: $50.00 - $65.00 per hour
