About Plura AI
Plura AI builds AI-powered communications for Voice, SMS, RCS, and Webchat. Our platform helps businesses turn customer conversations into measurable KPIs, conversion signals, and ROI. Plura combines AI agents, unified communication channels, analytics, workflow automation, integrations, and compliance-first infrastructure to help teams respond faster, convert more leads, and understand what is happening across every customer interaction.
We are building the intelligence layer behind modern customer communication: natural-language analytics, AI-powered reporting, conversation intelligence, lead conversion workflows, and data-driven recommendations.
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior AI Platform Engineer to help build and scale Plura’s advanced reporting and analytics platform. This is a hands-on engineering role working across Python backend services, AWS serverless infrastructure, LLM orchestration, data pipelines, MCP tool integrations, and AI-generated reporting.
You will work on systems that accept natural-language analytics requests, run asynchronous reporting jobs, query communication data, process large datasets, generate HTML/ JSON reports, evaluate AI output quality, and integrate with AWS Bedrock, AgentCore, and external LLM providers.
This role is best suited for a senior backend/platform engineer who is comfortable owning production systems end to end: application code, infrastructure, observability, testing, security, and deployment readiness.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Python backend services for AI-powered reporting, analytics APIs, async job processing, and report generation.
- Design and improve AWS serverless systems using Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, Step Functions, IAM, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
- Develop LLM-powered workflows for natural-language query planning, tool calling, SQL generation, report narration, and quality evaluation.
- Integrate with MCP/JSON-RPC tools and data systems such as Athena, Snowflake, Timestream, and graph-based query planners.
- Improve large-dataset processing through chunking, queue fanout, merge/summarization jobs, and S3-backed artifacts.
- Build secure, account-scoped API behavior with JWT/Cognito authorization, least-privilege IAM, and careful secrets handling.
- Add and maintain unit, integration, e2e, and evaluation tests using pytest and related tooling.
- Debug production issues using CloudWatch logs, AWS X-Ray traces, job records, report artifacts, and LLM trace metadata.
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to turn customer reporting needs into reliable platform capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Strong Python experience, ideally with Python 3.12+.
- Production AWS experience, especially Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably AWS CDK.
- Experience designing asynchronous systems, queues, long-running jobs, retries, and status polling workflows.
- Strong SQL and analytical data processing skills.
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs or JSON-based service APIs.
- Strong testing discipline with pytest or similar frameworks.
- Ability to debug across application code, cloud infrastructure, logs, data pipelines, and third-party services.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work on-site full-time in Las Vegas, NV.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS Bedrock, AgentCore, Anthropic, OpenAI-compatible APIs, Cerebras, or other LLM providers.
- Experience building production GenAI, AI agent, tool-calling, or natural-language analytics systems.
- Familiarity with MCP servers, JSON-RPC, tool schemas, and model-tool orchestration.
- Experience with Athena, Snowflake, Timestream, Neptune, or graph-based data systems.
- Docker/ECR experience for containerized runtimes.
- Experience with LLM evaluation, token/cost tracking, prompt quality checks, or hallucination prevention.
- Experience with contact center, telephony, SMS, webchat, sales automation, or customer communication data.
- Security experience with JWT, Cognito, IAM, SOC 2/HIPAA-conscious systems, or customer data isolation.
What Success Looks Like
- You can independently ship backend and infrastructure changes into a production AWS environment.
- You can reason about AI system quality, not just API functionality.
- You can improve reliability, observability, and test coverage while moving quickly.
- You can work across product requirements, data workflows, LLM behavior, and cloud architecture.
- You can help Plura build analytics systems that customers can trust.
