Description Touro College is a Jewish university, with sister institutions in France, Germany, Israel, and Russia, and branches in California, Florida, and Nevada. Some 17,500 (Jewish and non-Jewish) students are enrolled in its various schools, which offer associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees in business, education, and law, as well as professional degrees in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, law, and other fields. Touro also operates New York Medical College. Dr. Bernard Lander, a social behavior and Jewish studies scholar, founded Touro College in 1971 to teach Jewish and secular subjects. The college is named after Judah and Isaac Touro, who founded the Touro Synagogue in 1790.
