Description Texas Southern University (TSU) is a historically black public institution established in 1947 by the Texas Legislature. The university, located on a 150-acre campus in downtown Houston, offers about 40 bachelor's degree programs and more than 30 master's and doctoral degree programs. Its ten colleges and schools include the Thurgood Marshall School of Law and the Barbara Jordan Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs. (Jordan and Leland are both former US representatives and graduates of TSU.) The university has an enrollment of more than 9,500 students.
