It also controls the De Beers diamond mining interests such as 50% stakes in Debswana (with the government of Botswana) and Namdeb (with the government of Namibia), as well as mining interests in Canada, Congo, and India. At peak levels De Beers produces about 50 million carats annually, mostly from its Debswana operations, the world's highest producing mine. De Beers is owned by South African resources giant Anglo American (45%), the Oppenheimer family (40%), and the Botswana government (15%).
