Description Your opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others awaits you at UW Health. Every day, patients from near and far come to UW Health for world-class health care that enhances their quality of life.
UW Health is an integrated academic health system that is home to the No. 1 hospital in Wisconsin as ranked by U.S. News & World Report. We’re made up of six main hospitals, one JOA partner hospital in Madison and two hospitals located within the main hospital in Illinois. We also have more than 90 clinics across Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
UW Health cares for more than 832,000 patients each year and employs more than 25,500 people — one of the region’s largest employers. Many of our 1,800 physicians are faculty members at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, one of the nation’s highly regarded medical schools.
Our roots go back more than a century. While most of our patients come from Wisconsin and Illinois, more patients continue to come from longer distances in search of the world-class, highly specialized care that is unavailable closer to home.
UW Health significantly expanded its geographic reach by partnering in 2015 with the former SwedishAmerican community health system based in Rockford, IL. Through this partnership, northern Illinois patients and families have the best of both worlds – a familiar, convenient network of primary and specialty care locations combined with easy access to UW Health experts for more complex situations, especially for patients with cancer or heart disease. Moreover, mothers and babies – most of whom are cared for at the new Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Rockford – now have easy access to UW Health Kids Neonatology experts at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, when a more acute level of care is needed.
