The company provides design/build, planning, general contracting, and construction management services for commercial and multifamily residential projects in Virginia. Its projects include office buildings, apartment complexes, shopping centers, hotels, schools, jails, warehouses, and senior living facilities. Some 60% of the company's business comes in the form of repeat customers. Clients have included Cousins Properties, Forest City Enterprises, Ukrop's, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Virginia Commonwealth University. President Bill Paulette founded KBS in a sheet metal shop in 1975.
