Description New Mexico State University (NMSU) schools more than 30,000 students in the Land of Enchantment. In addition to its main campus in Las Cruces, the university also operates locations in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, and Grants, in addition to Doña Ana Community College, extension offices in every New Mexico county, and about a dozen research and science centers, including the Chili Pepper Institute, devoted to chili pepper research and education. The university confers more than 4,000 certificate, associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees annually. A land-grant university, NMSU was founded in 1888 as an agricultural college and preparatory school.
