Mission Founded in 1967, the mission of Guilford Child Development is to help young children and families reach their full potential.
Description GCD offers six distinct, yet supportive programs: 1) Head Start/Early Head Start provides early childhood education and support services for over 1,400 families at 13 five star-rated Centers across Guilford County; 2) Regional Child Care Resources & Referral provides information, referral and financial assistance toward child care for working parents as well as training and technical assistance to increase the availability and quality of family child care homes and centers; 3) Nurse-Family Partnership is an evidence-based nurse home visitation program for low-income, first-time mothers; 4) Catering for Kids serves over 2,000 nutritious meals to children at GCD’s Centers and other programs in Guilford County; 5) Learning Together Family Literacy is a two-generational literacy program for immigrant/refugee mothers and their preschool children; and 6) the Family Success Center and High Point Opportunity Center are integrated services programs focused on breaking the cycle of poverty.
