HealthTran, which operates as HealthTrans, transcends pharmacy systems and medical claims to cut drug costs. Founded in 2000, the company helps health plan sponsors manage pharmacy benefits by providing benefit plan design, pharmacy claims management, pharmacy network services, rebate processing, technology systems, and other support. Each year HealthTrans processes some 100 million claims for its clients, including managed care organizations, retail pharmacies, employer groups, and other pharmacy benefit managers. Members can fill prescriptions through its network of about 60,000 retail pharmacies, as well as its mail order program. HealthTrans was acquired by software firm SXC Health Solutions in 2012.
