Podesta Group (formerly PodestaMattoon) offers governmental relations and strategic consulting services for those with interests within the Beltway. It assists with branding, crisis management, strategies involving legislation, and message development. Clients have included associations such as the National Association of Broadcasters and corporations such as The Washington Post Company and Clear Channel Communications. The firm was initially founded in 1998 by former Republican strategist Dan Mattoon and Tony Podesta, legendary lobbyist and brother of former Clinton Chief of Staff John Podesta. In 2006, however, Mattoon left to create his own public relations firm.
