It has oil gas operations primarily in Africa (the Republic of Congo, Gabon, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania) but also has assets in Latin America (Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela) and in Sicily and Syria. Maurel & Prom has proved and probable reserves of about 210 million barrels of oil. Exploration and production operations account for the bulk of the company's total sales, although it also generates revenues from drilling services (it operates 15 drilling rigs in four countries). In 2011 it formed a strategic alliance with Pacific Rubiales Energy.
