Description US and Korean steel manufacturing interests come together in the form of USS-POSCO Industries (UPI), a joint venture between United States Steel (US Steel) and POSCO. The company operates a steel plant (formerly owned by US Steel) in Pittsburg, Northern California. It manufactures flat-rolled steel sheets in various forms: cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, and tinplate. In addition, USS-POSCO churns out iron oxide, which is used to make hard and soft ferrites. UPI sells its products to more than 150 customers in more than dozen states throughout the western US. End products include office furniture, computer cabinets, metal studs, culverts, and metal building materials.
