AAM accreditation signifies that a museum meets AAM standards and best practices as an educational entity. Philanthropy is the primary source of revenue for the Autry. Fundraising income is realized from gifts, grants, special events and memberships and is received from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies. Our revenue is almost entirely invested in our mission with a small percentage for administrative expenses.

The museum presents a wide range of exhibitions and public programs—including lectures, film, theater, festivals, family events, and music—and performs scholarship, research, and educational outreach. The Autry’s collection of more than 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts includes the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest and most significant in the United States.
