The beach-side college offers programs in more than 80 fields of study and leads California's junior colleges in transferring students to the University of California and University of Southern California. Its unique Academy of Entertainment and Technology offers courses in entertainment technology (animation, game development, editing, visual effects), graphic design, and interior architectural design. The school also provides career training in such fields as accounting, automotive technology, computer science, fine arts, and nursing. Santa Monica Community College was founded in 1929.
