Description San Diego Miramar College opened in 1969 as a training facility for the area's law enforcement and firefighting personnel. Today, it still operates a school of public safety, but also provides two-year degree programs through about four other schools, including arts and humanities; business, math, and sciences; technical careers and workforce initiatives; and online instruction, library, and technology. The college also offers career training and the opportunity to transfer to schools in the University of California and California State University systems. San Diego Miramar College, which enrolls about 12,000 students and has 350 faculty and staff, is part of the San Diego Community College District.
