Description If you would like to hear the story of Surge’s start from our founder and President and are serious about considering employment with us to be part of something exciting and meaningful please take 30 min to watch the interview in this link: https://tv.freightwaves.com/player/25443/stream?assetType=episodes
Surge Transportation is proud to continue creating hundreds of jobs and career growth for working families around the country and world. Getting to that scale has certainly not been easy and along the way there have been people who did not have a good experience working with us – it’s true. We regret that and continue to build processes that minimize the number of these occurrences and develop a middle management team which spreads risk and reward in a professional manner across many offices. Supply chain itself, regardless of which company you work for, truckload brokerage can be stressful at times – this is not for everybody. Many of the shipments we haul already have a problem by the time we get them; our customers’ customers hold them to very high expectations of performance and they in turn pass those expectations on to us; there are financial risks with respect to cargo value vs insurance limits; there are public safety and compliance requirements with regard to driver behavior; there are legal fees, late fees, fines, chargebacks, lawsuits, contracts, negotiations, renegotiations, disaster relief FEMA shipments, wild fires, polar vortexes; there is intense competition among the 24,000 other brokerages in the nation to be the best, if not at least deserving of opportunities to develop new business.
This charged atmosphere makes Surge an exciting place to learn and build your career with lots of opportunity for both personal and professional development. If you stay here long, we now have a large and diverse enough company to help you achieve many levels of career advancement and income growth including substantial commission and retirement investments. Also, there are opportunities for international travel to our different offices. If you stay for a short period, you are going to learn a lot, be challenged to push yourself every day, and make yourself much more qualified to take on whatever career challenges you are confronted with down the road wherever you ultimately land. You will leave with access to many new career opportunities that may not have existed when you arrived.
Having said this, to be happy here you do have to kind of think it’s fun to show up and challenge yourself every day, you do have to feel fulfilled after a hard day’s work, enjoy learning, hopefully you’ll also enjoy getting together with your co-workers on the weekends for a moment to download the week’s exciting challenges together and decompress and recharge a bit – then start back again fresh on Monday. You have to recognize it is important and meaningful to do the work we do: deliver needed food and supplies to people who need them, sometimes under stressful circumstances. We take this responsibility seriously and our successful team members do as well.
Please take a moment to watch the interview to learn more about our culture and history – we hope to see you soon!
