Description Union College brings liberal arts and engineering together. Union College is a private liberal arts school that offers courses in the humanities, the social sciences, the sciences, and engineering. Notable alumni include the father of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the grandfather of Winston Churchill, and former US president Chester A. Arthur (class of 1848). Founded in 1795 with a class of 16, the college is supported by an endowment of more than $270 million.
