Description Utilities Telecom Council (UTC) is telecom for the other guys. The group is a business association representing the telecommunications interests of electric, gas, and water utilities; natural gas pipelines; and critical infrastructure firms. It lobbies Congress and other government bodies to create a favorable regulatory climate, publishes newsletters and bulletins, conducts industry research, and provides consulting on regulatory and legal matters. UTC members can attend several annual conferences and meetings and network with members in the US, Europe, and Canada. UTC was formed in 1948 as the National Committee for Utilities Radio and adopted its current name in 1968.
