SBM team members in Boston came together recently to participate in the Best Buddies International Friendship Walk, an event supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through programs in our schools, workplaces, and local communities. More than 45,000 people across the globe participated in the event, and the Boston walk raised $80,000. “Best Buddies is an extremely important organization for awareness and support of the IDD community,” said SBM Account Manager Christopher Hurley. “Being a proud uncle of a niece with autism, it brings hope for the future seeing everyone come together to support the cause.” SBM is proud to partner with organizations that share a commitment to inclusion in the workplace, including Best Buddies. As we kick off National Disability Employment Awareness Month, SBM wants to shine the spotlight on Jonathan, star SBM employee and part of a supported employment program in California that provides job opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Jonathan is a Conference Room Ambassador, ensuring rooms are clean and perfectly prepared for meetings. He loves to travel, especially to Los Angeles, and visit amusement parks. The Facilities Coordinator at his site shared this feedback about Jonathan: “He always makes sure the conference rooms are stocked and neat! I always see him mobile and using his time productively.
