Though Long & McQuade may sound like the name of a detective duo, it's also the familiar name of Canada's largest retailer of musical instruments. With about 40 locations across Canada, the company also buys and sells used instruments and offers rentals at its stores. In addition, most locations offer music lessons. Long & McQuade's print division is Canada's largest seller of sheet music. The company was founded in 1956 by partners Jack Long and Jack McQuade and is still owned by the Long family. The Long family also owns and operates sister company, Yorkville Sound, which makes professional audio equipment.
